But those who live by the impulses of the Holy Spirit are motivated to pursue spiritual realities. And we are free to live, not according to our flesh, but by the dynamic power of the Holy Spirit! 5 Those who are motivated by the flesh only pursue what benefits themselves. 4 So now every righteous requirement of the law can be fulfilled through the Anointed One living his life in us. Clothed with humanity, God’s Son gave his body to be the sin-offering so that God could once and for all condemn the guilt and power of sin. Yet God sent us his Son in human form to identify with human weakness. ![]() 3 For God achieved what the law was unable to accomplish, because the law was limited by the weakness of human nature. 2 For the “law” of the Spirit of life flowing through the anointing of Jesus has liberated us from the “law” of sin and death. There remains no accusing voice of condemnation against those who are joined in life-union with Jesus, the Anointed One. So he covered over the sins of those who lived prior to Jesus’ sacrifice.ġ So now the case is closed. This is the perfect demonstration of God’s justice, because until now, he had been so patient-holding back his justice out of his tolerance for us. We come to him for mercy, for God has made a provision for us to be forgiven by faith in the sacred blood of Jesus. His gift of love and favor now cascades over us, all because Jesus, the Anointed One, has liberated us from the guilt, punishment, and power of sin! 25 Jesus’ God-given destiny was to be the sacrifice to take away sins, and now he is our mercy seat because of his death on the cross. 24 Yet through his powerful declaration of acquittal, God freely gives away his righteousness. For there is really no difference between us, 23 for we all have sinned and are in need of the glory of God. And now all who believe in him receive that gift. It is God’s righteousness made visible through the faithfulness of Jesus Christ. This is the righteousness that the Scriptures prophesied would come. For you are being rejected the same way the prophets were before you.Ģ1–22 But now, independently of the law, the righteousness of God is tangible and brought to light through Jesus, the Anointed One. 11 “How ecstatic you can be when people insult and persecute you and speak all kinds of cruel lies about you because of your love for me! 12 So leap for joy-since your heavenly reward is great. 10 “How enriched you are when you bear the wounds of being persecuted for doing what is right!
